Nelson Monserrate

Infrastructure Engineer

Nelson grew up in Havana, Cuba, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and worked for over 6 years as a Systems Engineer with focus on Linux and automation. He continued his career in the United States with John Deere, where he worked as a Site Reliability Engineer and Team Lead for the Global Unix/Linux Team for over 6 years. While on that team, he focused on DevOps best practices by introducing technologies such as Python, Puppet, Ansible, and Cloud Computing (OpenStack & AWS), among others. He also worked on the design and development of several CLI and RESTful applications/frameworks.

In his spare time, Nelson enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He also enjoys listening to all types of music, DJing, traveling with his family, collaborating on the Open Source community (recently OpenStack), and keeping up with the latest technologies.
