Google Tag Manager

Parse.ly provides tag templates that make it easy to install the Parse.ly tracker for Web and AMP Google Tag Manager containers.

#For Web containers

With Parse.ly's Google Tag Manager Template you can easily add the Parse.ly tracker to your site through Google Tag Manager, without any development work.

  1. Navigate to the "Tags" section of you Google Tag Manager workspace
  2. Click "New"
  3. From "Tag Configuration" choose the Parse.ly Tracker tag from the "Custom" section (or search for the Parse.ly Tracker tag)
  4. Add your Parse.ly Site ID to the Parse.ly Site ID field
  5. From "Triggering" add a trigger for the tag. A good rule of thumb: use the same trigger(s) you already have configured for Google Analytics or other trackers. Otherwise, just choose the standard All Pages | PageView trigger.
  6. Name and save the tag and republish your container

The Parse.ly tracker will now deploy through Google Tag Manager on your site.

The template does not generate metadata tags—to add these, follow our metadata documentation.

Parse.ly's Google Tag Manager Template is open-sourced on Github and pull requests are welcome.

#For AMP containers

Parse.ly has partnered with Google to provide a tag to load the Parse.ly component on Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP).

  1. Navigate to the "Tags" section of you Google Tag Manager workspace
  2. Click "New"
  3. From "Tag Configuration" choose the Parse.ly tag from the "More" section (or search for the Parse.ly tag)
  4. Add your Parse.ly Site ID to the Parse.ly API Key field
  5. Check the box next to Get Client ID from AMP document or cookie.
  6. From "Triggering" add the default All Pages | PageView trigger
  7. Name and save the tag and republish your container

The Parse.ly AMP component will now deploy through Google Tag Manager to your AMP pages.
